Social media has revolutionized how the world connects and that includes business. Without spending a cent on advertising, companies now have the power to connect with thousands of potential customers with the click of a button. There are so many reasons to use social media for your business, but if you’re not utilizing the tools available to your correctly, it can be overwhelming, which is why we’ve compiled 10 tips to help you grow your business with social media.
1. Make your bio a call to action (CTA)
Your bio should explain who you are, what you do and who you help. Keep it short and sweet, but make sure it includes keywords. Consider using your mission statement. Direct viewers to your sales funnel freebie and provide a link.
For example: Ours is ‘A business coaching platform to help the aspiring female entrepreneur start her thriving online business and create a life of freedom and fulfillment. Click the link to download our Free Fillable Business Plan Template”’
2. Schedule your posts
Take a look at the analytics and insights provided on each social media platform to understand when your followers are most active and what types of content they are most engaged with. Then you can create similar content and post it at times that they will be most engaged. There are a lot of great tools to help with scheduling. We recommend Planoly for general planning and scheduling or HootSuite if you’re looking for a more robust Social Media Management software.
3. Create a social media calendar
Start by listing any national holidays in your country, then add any other national days/weeks/months that are unofficial holidays (ex: National Boss’ Day, Earth Day, etc.) Next, add any important milestones or anniversaries for your business. Throughout the year, continue to add any product launches, promotions or industry events that are relevant. Then, fill in your basic content ideas and day-to-day posts. Set reminders for anything you have added to your calendar.
4. Share new products & content
As you launch new products or post new content on your website, share it with your social network. Include links to the products or pages.
5. Add social share buttons to your website
Make it easy for those already engaged on your website to share the content they love with their own social network. We recommend Shareaholic.
6. Create a community
Create a Facebook group, jump on Twitter Chats or start a Goodreads book club for your community to engage with each other. This will also be a great place for you to share new products and content for the highest rates of engagement!
7. Utilize Hashtags
Hashtags are essential to reaching the correct audience on platforms like Instagram and Twitter. Take a look at what hashtags leaders in your industry are using. Instagram will recommend related hashtags once you are viewing a specific hashtag as well. Once you have a list of 20-50 relevant hashtags for your content, save the list to your notes or a document to reference for future posts.
8. Engage with followers
This one is huge. Make sure you are replying to every comment on your content. It seems daunting, but it will help create a loyal following and show your network that you are engaged and care what they have to say. Like and comment on your network’s content, as well as industry influencers content.
9. Connect with Influencers
Not only will connecting with influencers in your industry help you learn from them by observing how they excel at social media, but engaging with their content and their audience can also help you make new connections.
10. Stay consistent with your brand
All of the content you share should have a cohesive feel, whether that is the color scheme, filter used or types of images you are sharing. Read our blog post How To Create A Cohesive Brand for tips.
